1. Controller

The controller for the processing described here is webtek.at. Our contact details are in the Legal notice. For data protection questions you can write to office@webtek.at.

2. Server log files

When you visit this website, the web server automatically records technical data in log files. Two systems do this:

1. Our reverse proxy (Traefik), which receives every request first, records the IP address, date and time, the requested address, the response status, the amount of data transferred and the browser type.
2. Our web server (nginx) records date and time, the requested page, the response status, the amount of data transferred, the referring page and the browser type. It does not record the IP address of visitors.

Purpose: technical operation, error analysis and security of the website. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in a secure and stable website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Retention: the log files are rotated daily and deleted after 30 days. We do not use these data to identify visitors and we do not combine them with other data.

3. Protection against attacks

To protect the server against attacks we use the security software CrowdSec. It analyses the proxy log for attack patterns and can block the IP addresses concerned. CrowdSec stores its alerts and blocking decisions on our server for 7 days. If a pattern is recognised as an attack, the IP address concerned, the type of attack and the time can be reported to the CrowdSec community (CrowdSec SAS, France), and we receive a list of IP addresses reported by others. Purpose: network and information security. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in the security of our systems (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). We do not send page contents or other data of visitors.

4. Contacting us

This website has no contact form. If you contact us by e-mail, telephone or post, we process the data you give us (for example name, e-mail address, telephone number and the content of your message) in order to answer your enquiry. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR if the enquiry relates to a contract or pre-contractual measures, otherwise our legitimate interest in answering enquiries (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). E-mails are stored on our own mail server. We delete enquiries once they are dealt with, unless a statutory retention obligation applies. We do not pass your data on without a legal basis.

5. Cookies and third parties

This website does not use cookies, analytics or tracking. Fonts, images and scripts are delivered from our own server; no content is loaded from third-party servers. The link to online-registry.net is an ordinary link: data is only exchanged with that site if you open it.

6. Hosting

This website is hosted on a server that we operate ourselves. The server is rented from Hetzner Online GmbH (Gunzenhausen, Germany) and located in a data centre in Europe. Hetzner provides the infrastructure; the website and its server logs are managed by us.

7. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, and to object to processing based on legitimate interests. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Austrian Data Protection Authority (Datenschutzbehörde, www.dsb.gv.at). To exercise your rights, contact us at office@webtek.at.

8. Conference platform

Registrations, submissions and reviews for a conference are handled on the Online Registry conference platform, not on this website. For that processing, the conference organizer (usually a scientific society) is the controller, and webtek.at acts as its processor. The privacy statement of the respective conference is linked in the footer of each conference site.

9. Changes

We may update this policy when necessary. Changes are published on this page together with the date of the last update.
